10.1.2. Future developments

Increased efforts are necessary in the future to further analyse and better understand the complexity of associations and interactions of health determinants. The aim is to create an overarching framework showing and explaining the relevant interrelationships. Only if the underlying concepts are adequately understood, the results can be effectively translated into (public) health policy and practice and, consequently, contribute to the improvement of population health.
