QUERY: What is the formulary a bishop is to use for the final blessing of Mass? REPLY: Although nothing is said on this point in the new Order of Mass, at the end of Mass bishops bless the people either with the more solemn formulary that will appear in the new Roman Missal or with the formulary that has been customary until now, namely: «Blessed be the name of the Lord. . .; Our help is in the name of the Lord» (they do not cross themselves); «May almighty God bless you». . .; as he makes the triple sign of the cross: Not 5 (1969) 403, no. 14.
