223. QUERY: When there is no member of the faithful present able to make the acclamation after the consecration, should the priest say: «Let us proclaim the mystery of faith»? REPLY: No. The words «the mystery of faith», which have been removed from the context of Christ's own words and put after the consecration, "serve as an introduction to the acclamation" (Ap. Const. «Missale Romanum»). But when no member of the faithful is present who is able to respond to the acclamation, the priest omits saying: «Let us proclaim the mystery of faith». The case is like that of a Mass which, because of serious need, is celebrated without any server and, therefore, without the greetings and the blessings at the end of Mass (GIRM no. 211). The same reply applies to a concelebration by priests at which no member of the faithful is present: Not 5 (1969) 324 - 325, no. 3. 229. See no. 238 below.
