ARTICLE 4: THE FORMATION OF RELIGIOUS §2 The institute's own law is, therefore, to define the nature and duration of this formation. In this, the needs of the Church and the conditions of people and times are to be kept in mind, insofar as this is required by the purpose and the character of the institute. §3 The formation of members who are being prepared for sacred orders is governed by the universal law and the institute's own program of studies. §2 During the period of formation members are not to be given offices and undertakings which hinder their formation.
