TITLE II : DIFFERENT GRADES AND KINDS OF TRIBUNALS (Cann. 1417 - 1445) §2 Apart from the case of an appeal, a referral to the Apostolic See does not suspend the exercise of jurisdiction of a judge who has already begun to hear a case. The judge can, therefore, continue with the trial up to the definitive judgement, unless the Apostolic See has indicated to him that it has reserved the case to itself.
