 2 II   |         MARY FROM THE THREEFOLD WOE OF ACTUAL SIN, FROM THE
 3 II   |         SIN, FROM THE THREEFOLD WOE OF ORIGINAL MISERY, AND
 4 II   |          AND FROM THE THREEFOLD WOE OF ETERNAL PUNISHMENT~Hail
 5 II   |         redemption from eternal woe was begun. Let each one
 6 II   |          Ave indeed and without woe ("a" or "absque vae").~We
 7 II   |      consider that the "vae" or woe, from which she is entirely
 8 II   |         threefold. There is the woe of guilt, misery, and hell.
 9 II   |          and hell. There is the woe of actual sin, of original
10 II   |        original misery, and the woe of the punishment or pain
11 II   |       saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants
12 II   |         with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants
13 II   |         a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the
14 II   |   miseries, three hells in this woe, for the absence of which
15 II   |  saluted by the Ave.~First, the woe of guilt is threefold, i.
16 II   |        is threefold, i. e., the woe of the guilt of the heart,
17 II   |     three woes it may be said: "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants
18 II   |      woes it may be said: "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants
19 II   |         may be said: "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the
20 II   |      inhabitants of the earth!" Woe, therefore, to sinners because
21 II   |       as it is said in Isaias: "Woe to you who are of a deep
22 II   |         counsel from the Lord." Woe, indeed, to those who are
23 II   |      full of the filth of vice. Woe, therefore, to them, as
24 II   |        is said in St. Matthew: "Woe to you, Scribes and Pharisees,
25 II   |           Oh, how far from this woe was the most innocent heart
26 II   |  Because Mary was far from this woe of guilt, therefore it is
27 II   |        said to her: Ave.~Again, woe to sinners because of the
28 II   |       as it is said in Isaias: "Woe to you who call evil good,
29 II   |      evil good, and good evil." Woe to these, woe to all who
30 II   |       good evil." Woe to these, woe to all who sin by the lips,
31 II   |           Oh, how far from this woe was the most innocent mouth
32 II   |       of the Lord"? Because the woe of the guilt of the lips
33 II   |       with Ave.~Again, there is woe to sinners because of the
34 II   |       Ecclesiasticus (II, 14): "Woe to the double heart and
35 II   |        the hands that do evil." Woe to the double heart, for
36 II   |         the guilt of the heart; woe to the wicked lips, for
37 II   |      for the guilt of the lips; woe to the hands that do evil,
38 II   |         far removed from such a woe was every deed of Mary and
39 II   |       and holy Mary was without woe in thought, word, and deed,
40 II   |         free from the threefold woe of actual guilt, but also
41 II   |         also from the threefold woe of original misery, i. e.,
42 II   |    misery of them that die.~The woe of the misery of being born
43 II   |     misery of being born is the woe of the weakness of concupiscence;
44 II   |  weakness of concupiscence; the woe of them that bring forth
45 II   |         that bring forth is the woe of the pains of travail;
46 II   |       the pains of travail; the woe of the dying is the misery
47 II   |      inhabitants of the earth: "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants
48 II   | inhabitants of the earth: "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants
49 II   |        of the earth: "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the
50 II   |  inhabitants of the earth!" The woe of those who are born is
51 II   |       those who are born is the woe of the fuel of sin which
52 II   |       truly say with Jeremias: "Woe is me for my destruction,
53 II   |        actual sin; but also the woe of stain and of guilt, bringing
54 II   |           Oh, how far from this woe of them that are born was
55 II   |        so far removed from this woe, she is saluted by Ave.~
56 II   |         16.) On account of this woe it may be said to all who
57 II   |     said to some amongst them: "Woe to them that are with child
58 II   |           Oh, how far from this woe was Mary when she conceived
59 II   |        she was so far from this woe of them that bring forth,
60 II   |         of them that die is the woe of dissolution into dust,
61 II   |        word of Ecclesiasticus: "Woe to you, ungodly men, who
62 II   |        so also was she from the woe of the dying, and rightly
63 II   |       immune from the threefold woe of actual guilt, and from
64 II   |          and from the threefold woe of original sin; but also
65 II   |         of hell. This threefold woe consists in the greatness,
66 II   |    duration of the punishments.~Woe, therefore, to the damned
67 II   |    duration of their torments! "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants
68 II   |        of their torments! "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants
69 II   |      their torments! "Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the
70 II   |   torments, as Ezechiel saith: "Woe to the bloody city, of which
71 II   |       how far removed from this woe of greatness of torment
72 II   |    pains of hell. Isaias says: "Woe to their souls, for evil
73 II   |        of St. Jude it is said: "Woe to them, for they have gone
74 II   |        free from the. threefold woe of hell, yea, from all the
75 II   |         be delivered from every woe by our Lord Jesus Christ,
76 IV   |        the Lord into his house. Woe, therefore, to those who
77 IV   |       them: "Avete, All hail !" Woe to those who, out of hatred
78 IV   |        greetings of politeness. Woe to those who deceitfully
79 IV   |    Therefore Our Savior saith: "Woe to you rich who have here
