Chapter
1| believe Him~from the [whole] heart; as I have often said that
1| confidence and~faith of the heart alone make both God and
1| upon which~you set your heart and put your trust is properly
1| true faith~and trust of the heart which settles upon the only
1| need; only let not your heart~cleave to or rest in any
1| on which he sets all his~heart, and which is also the most
1| have something in which the heart entirely~trusts. ~Besides,
1| For all these place their heart and~trust elsewhere than
1| namely, that man's entire heart and all his confidence be~
1| apprehend Him means when the heart lays hold of Him and clings
1| to cling to Him with the heart is nothing else than to
1| wrath, namely, that the heart know no other comfort or
1| that his god to which his heart was inclined, so~that even
1| worshiping it, but rather~in the heart, which stands gaping at
1| joke. Ask and~examine your heart diligently, and you will
1| alone or not. If you have a heart that can expect of Him nothing~
1| that they~may take it to heart and retain it: ~
1| Him alone with the whole heart; so that~His anger does
1| chance, as men of brutal~heart, who think that it makes
1| everyone seriously take this to heart, lest it be~regarded as
1| his throne, and let his heart decline from God, and put~
1| than confidence from the heart for~everything good, so
1| as before~said, where the heart is rightly disposed toward
1| Commandment has instructed the heart and taught [the~basis of]
1| objects that spring from the~heart and manifest themselves
1| upon the lips~while the heart knows well enough, or should
1| let us learn and take to heart the great importance of
1| unavenged if any~one turn his heart from Him, as little will
1| are those who with~their heart trust alone in God. For
1| have heard above) first the heart by faith gives God the~honor
1| and called upon from the~heart. And, indeed, many a terrible
1| spreads its roots in the heart that~they fear God more
1| upon you,~to kindle in your heart unbelief and wicked thoughts
1| have~God's Word in your heart, upon your lips, and in
1| your ears. But where~the heart is idle, and the Word does
1| devoutness, and produces a pure heart~and pure thoughts. For these
1| First that with our whole heart we trust in Him, and fear
1| most of all that both~in heart and with the body we so
1| we are to honor from the heart we must truly regard as~
1| how to regard them in his heart~will not allow them to suffer
1| child could not lay~it to heart, and meanwhile gaped [like
1| great consolation in his heart that he can~joyfully say
1| face to say~with joyful heart: "Now I know that this work
1| reward. ~Should not the heart, then, leap and melt for
1| and ears and take this to heart, lest some time we may~again
1| and should have a paternal heart toward their subordinates.
1| displeasure of God, no peace of heart, and afterwards all~manner
1| possessions and have what our heart desires. But~because the
1| some~one may take it to heart, that we may be relieved
1| abundantly according to~your heart's desire. He who despises
1| kill neither with hand, heart, mouth, signs, gestures,
1| and source by which the heart is embittered against our
1| to~have a patient, gentle heart, especially toward those
1| injured. And finally, that the heart be not ill disposed toward~
1| and~means, so that the heart, the lips, and the whole
1| required in order that the heart also may be pure. ~From
1| cherish the other from~the heart and with entire fidelity.
1| your way [wherever your heart's pleasure~calls you] while
1| for~He sees the deceitful heart and the malice of the world,
1| would especially have the heart pure, although we~shall
1| our~works proceed from a heart which fears and regards
1| God. For where there is a~heart thus disposed towards God,
1| is considered and laid to~heart that these things are not
2| we believed it~with the heart, we would also act accordingly,
2| sense and see His paternal heart and His transcendent love~
2| love~toward us. Thereby the heart would be warmed and kindled
2| preached and made alive in the~heart, so that it is understood,
2| deepest abyss of his paternal heart and of His pure~unutterable
2| a mirror~of the paternal heart, outside of whom we see
3| we; as, indeed, the human~heart is by nature so despondent
3| diligently to take this~to heart and by no means to despise
3| they have never from the heart prayed for even a drop of~
3| contemplate it and lay it to~heart, lest we become remiss in
3| that you may kindle your heart~to stronger and greater
3| pray for this with your heart,~you can be sure that it
3| too great for any~human heart to think of desiring if
3| besides, be driven out of the heart, and~suffer such a breach
3| in prayer. For~where the heart is not in right relation
3| such a confident and~joyful heart can spring from nothing
3| inflame even an innocent heart. ~Next comes the world,
3| most venomously into the heart, not by flesh and blood,
3| send such an arrow~into my heart that I can scarcely stand.
3| thus speak to God from the heart:~Dear Father, Thou hast
3| that they dare not from the heart say yea and positively~conclude
4| thereby be brought into the heart, as indeed the~entire Gospel
4| believing them with the~heart. Without faith it profits
4| do, nor the~body; but the heart must believe it. ~Thus you
5| consolation is here given~when the heart feels that the burden is
5| other way~than with the heart. For such a gift and eternal
5| done by the faith of the heart, which discerns~this treasure
5| we must,~indeed, examine heart and conscience, and act
5| done, the more will the~heart be warmed and enkindled,
5| murderer. A liar, to lead the heart~astray from the Word of
5| stone be removed from your heart.~Then, indeed, the distress
