The Fathers of the Sixth Œcumenical Synod, convened in Constantinople in 680 against the Monothelite heresy, stated: “For a long period of time, this Synod has investigated the issue of our pure Christian faith..., and the dissension regarding Orthodoxy (peri tes orthodoxias) that had somehow arisen was overcome by relying on the dogmas of truth” [17] (“tes orthodoxou pisteos ten alitheian...ten hygie orthoteta tes orthodoxou pisteos”).
