 1 Intro,      0|          without pain, began with tears to reproach herself for
 2   1,      4  |           am no despiser of their tears, and sweat, and humble prayers;
 3   2,      5  |          to be constrained by her tears, and bound by the chain
 4   2,      5  |           sweetest daughter, your tears constrain Me, because they
 5   2,      6  |        that, constrained by their tears, I may mitigate the fury
 6   2,      6  |    justice. Take, therefore, your tears and your sweat, drawn from
 7   2,      6  |      prayer, by the sweat and the tears shed by the fiery desire
 8   2,     13  |       whom I ask in addition your tears and sweat, in order that
 9   3,     12  | concerning the state and fruit of tears. ~
10   3,     12  |         through these states with tears, she wished to learn from
11   3,     12  | concerning the different kinds of tears, and how they came to be,
12   3,     12  |           reason of the aforesaid tears, and inasmuch as the truth
13   3,     12  |    different states and fruits of tears, she rose out of herself,
14   3,     13  |           there are five kinds of tears. ~
15   3,     13  |         the reasons and fruits of tears, and I have not despised
16   3,     13  |          concerning the imperfect tears caused by fear; but first
17   3,     13  |           but first rather of the tears of wicked men of the world.

19   3,     13  |           fear. The third are the tears of those who, having abandoned
20   3,     13  |           you. The fourth are the tears of those who have arrived

26   3,     14  |      sensual the eye drops hearty tears which engender death, because
27   3,     14  |           meed of mortal pain and tears. It is true that their guilt
28   3,     14  |         first class, who have the tears of death, of whom I have
29   3,     14  |        Now, begin to consider the tears which give the commencement
30   3,     14  |         commencement of life, the tears, that is, of those who,
31   3,     14  |           both hearty and sensual tears, because the soul, not having
32   3,     14  |     causes her eye to weep, which tears issue from the very fountain
33   3,     14  |           she often drops sensual tears, and if you ask Me why,
34   3,     14  |         way she lets fall sensual tears -- tears, that is, of spiritual
35   3,     14  |        lets fall sensual tears -- tears, that is, of spiritual passion.
36   3,     14  |          Deity, her eyes let fall tears of sweetness, tears indeed
37   3,     14  |          fall tears of sweetness, tears indeed of milk, nourishing
38   3,     14  |    odoriferous ointment are these tears, shedding odors of great
39   3,     14  |         heart-pangs, and so sheds tears. This is the last stage
40   3,     14  |     unitive state, which produces tears of great sweetness through
41   3,     14  |         which the second class of tears belongs. It is therefore
42   3,     15  |          five aforesaid states of tears, produce tears of infinite
43   3,     15  |          states of tears, produce tears of infinite value: and how
44   3,     15  |          are filled with abundant tears of infinite value, all of
45   3,     15  |        say that in this life your tears can become infinite, but
46   3,     15  |         have already told you how tears come from the heart, and
47   3,     15  |          so that fiery desire and tears are united. And inasmuch
48   3,     15  |      sense I said that there were tears of infinite value, and this
49   3,     15  |     desire which is united to the tears. When the soul leaves the
50   3,     15  |          soul leaves the body the tears remain behind, but the affection
51   3,     15  |           itself the fruit of the tears, and consumed it, as happens
52   3,     15  |     unitive love which caused her tears to fall, does not cease
53   3,     15  |    physical weeping, for physical tears have evaporated in the furnace,
54   3,     15  |          in the furnace, becoming tears of fire of the Holy Spirit.
55   3,     15  |          Spirit. You see then how tears are infinite, how, as regards
56   3,     15  |     infinite, how, as regards the tears shed in this life only,
57   3,     15  |           four of these states of tears." ~
