 1   2        |                   A TREATISE OF DISCRETION ~
 2   2,      1|      rather on virtues; and how discretion receives life from humility,
 3   2,      1|    perform not her penance with discretion, that is to say, if her
 4   2,      1|       love of virtue. With this discretion, then, should the soul perform
 5   2,      1|        and of My goodness, with discretion, and she will not seize
 6   2,      1|    which I hate. This virtue of discretion is no other than a true
 7   2,      1|     knowledge is virtue rooted. Discretion is the only child of self-knowledge,
 8   2,      1|        in the perpetual calm of discretion. Because otherwise the tree
 9   2,      1|       not produce the virtue of discretion, or any fruit of life, if
10   2,      1|        to you, that the root of discretion is a real knowledge of self
11   2,      1|       this founds the virtue of discretion on knowledge of self, that
12   2,      1|      being founded on pride, as discretion is on humility. ~
13   2,      1|       who possess the virtue of discretion. For, when they have rendered
14   2,      2|         how love, humility, and discretion are united; and how the
15   2,      2|      side the off-shoot of true discretion, in the way that I have
16   2,      2|      they are all flavored with discretion, because they are all united,
17   2,      3|       soul; and of the light of discretion in various other modes and
18   2,      3|         but accompanied by true discretion, using corporal works as
19   2,      3|         told you, the virtue of discretion renders to the soul, that
20   2,      3| flavored with the light of true discretion, without which the soul
21   2,      3|        conditions. The light of discretion (which proceeds from love,
22   2,      3|       of the guilt of sin. Holy discretion ordains that the soul should
23   2,      3|        is the supreme office of discretion which proceeds from charity.
