 1   1, 2 |    in futile effort failed,~Mortal man will struggle vainly
 2   2, 5 |    Gods that guard us both,~Mortal beings and Immortal,--witness
 3   3, 6 |  yore,~Blest with more than mortal vision, deep in more than
 4   3, 6 |   vision, deep in more than mortal tore,~And he sat beside
 5   3, 8 | lifelong penance change not mortal's earthly state,~Wherefore
 6   4, 4 |  Love nor friendship doth a mortal to his kith or kindred own,~
 7   8, 3 |  Thou hast done what living mortal never sought to do before,~
 8   9, 8 |    Rakshas what are sons of mortal men,~What are homeless human
 9  10, 7 |   Destroyer,--art thou by a mortal slain!~But thy valour lends
10  10, 8 |   plain.~But with more than mortal valour Ravan swept the ranks
11  10, 10|    contest of the more than mortal foes,~Ravan mighty in his
12  10, 10|     he mingled in a contest mortal eyes have never seen!~
13  10, 12|   Destroyer came to thee in mortal form,~Or the heaven-traversing
14  10, 12|  slain,~Rama was no earthly mortal, he who crossed the mighty
15  10, 12|   gate,~Rama was no earthly mortal but the messenger of Fate,~
16 End    |   Sarayu, surrendered their mortal life, and entered heaven.~
