Unperceived ideological persuasion goes much further than this by inducing the West to desire a semi‑communist regime in order to eliminate, in its relations with the other side of the Iron Curtain, the friction caused by the stark contrasts between the communist regimes and those in the Free World, thus facilitating an accommodation between the two sides.
