262-263:

Not by suave conversation
or lotus-like coloring
does an envious, miserly cheat
become an exemplary man.
But one in whom this is
    cut     through
    up-     rooted
    wiped out --
he's called exemplary,
    his aversion disgorged,
        intelligent.
