Chapter

 1 3     |      while the prophet Jeremiah says, "Make a renewal for you,
 2 3     |         and in another place he says, "Behold, days shall come,
 3 3     |        it shall be exalted," he says, "above the hills; and there
 4 3     |       peace. For "a people," he says, "whom I knew not hath served
 5 4     |          For Isaiah the prophet says, "Your sabbaths my soul
 6 4     |         and in another place he says, "My sabbaths ye have profaned."
 7 4     |         And there shall be," He says, "month after month, and
 8 5     |        sacrifices to God? as He says through the angel Malachi,
 9 5     |     Again, in the Pslams, David says: "Bring to God, ye countries
10 5     |      shall have brought me," He says, "the finest wheat flour,
11 5     |  execrable to me;" and again He says, "Your holocausts and sacrifices,
12 7     |      Into the universal earth," says he, "is gone out their sound,
13 8     |         devastation. For Daniel says, that "both the holy city
14 8     |         be exterminated. For he says thus: "In the first year
15 8     |     have been completed. For he says thus: "And the city and
16 8     |       particular vision; for he says, "And understand and conjecture
17 9     |         a sign. "Therefore," he says, "shall A SIGN be given
18 9     |        all other nations; as it says through Zechariah: "And
19 9     |        of "gold" David likewise says, "And to Him shall be given
20 9     |       extinct. And elsewhere it says, through a prophet, to the
21 9     |         convicted. "Gird thee," says David, "the sword upon the
22 9     | greatness of thy right hand, he says, "shall conduct thee"--the
23 9     |     deduced. "Thine arrows," he says, "are sharp,"--God's everywhere-flying
24 9     |       to the Jews. "He was," He says, "the burning and shining
25 9     |        there shall be born," he says, "a rod from the root of
26 9     |          For of Him the prophet says, "A man set in a plague,
27 9     |   through Isaiah: "Cry out," he says, "in vigour, and spare not;
28 10    |        this malediction; for He says in Deuteronomy: "If, moreover, (
29 10    |        Similarly, again, Isaiah says: "For a child is born to
30 10    |       own glory. "They dug," He says, "my hands and feet"--which
31 10    |       the Father, "Save me," He says, out of the mouth of the
32 10    |  sepulture. "By the crimes," he says, "of my people was He led
33 10    |        death," and so forth. He says again, moreover: "His sepulture
34 10    |   saying, "And it shall be," he says, "in that day, saith the
35 11    |     whence most emphatically he says that His advent "seals vision
36 12    |     Father in the Psalms, which says, "My Son art Thou; to-day
37 12    |      faith of His gospel; as He says through Isaiah: "Behold,
38 13    |      from afar: "your soul," he says, "shall meditate terror,"--
39 13    |       Daniel prophesied (for he says, "Unction shall be exterminated"),
40 13    |     befallen. For the Scripture says thus, that "the city and
41 13    |        And in the Psalms, David says: "They exterminated my hands
42 13    |      virgin; "and the tree," he says, "hath brought his fruit,"--
43 13    | foretold) through Jeremiah, who says, "Send, and ask exceedingly
44 13    |  suffered), "and shuddered," he says, "most exceedingly;" and "
45 13    |         My People done; Me," He says, "they have quite forsaken,
46 13    |    burning. "On My account," He says, "have these things happened
47 14conc|        For "we have announced," says the prophet, "concerning
48 14conc|      the sons of men." "Grace," says the Psalmist, "hath been
49 14conc|       of human estate. Jeremiah says: "He is a human being, and
50 14conc|        because, "His nativity," says Isaiah, "who shall declare?"
