233.The son of Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) use to say: At evening do not expect [to live till] morning, and at morning do not expect [to live till] evening. Take from your health for your illness and from your life for your death 22).
(Bukhari).

i.e. while you are in good health you are able to perform your religious duties and should therefore take advantage of this fact. The same applies to the state of being alive.
