 1 2 |            substance of which they say that Christ did not partake,
 2 3 |           be a judge. "God sees," (say they)(say they); and, "I

 4 3 |         you to God." But when they say, What has undergone death
 5 3 |  imaginations of the world, I must say to him: Part company with
 6 4 |             in that case, (must we say) of the consequences of
 7 5 |      thereof is so great. But, you say, even the world is the work
 8 6 |          did the Father previously say to the Son: "Let us make
 9 6 |           God made man, that is to say, the creature which He moulded
10 7 |    Scripture says, "Shall the clay say to the potter?" that is,
11 8 |     substance. It would suffice to say, indeed, that there is not
12 8 |           cross many times, not to say by still more atrocious
13 9 |     precious; (shall that flesh, I say), so often brought near
14 10|          Isaiah was not content to say only this; but he also declared, "
15 12|           gain. In a word, I would say, all creation is instinct
16 16|          employers. Thus much do I say from a desire to meet even
17 17|       given to my opponent room to say: Since, then, the soul has

28 26|         earliest time," that is to say, in that innocence which
29 29|        these bones; and thou shalt say, Ye dry bones, hear the
30 29|           son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord God,
31 29|        whole house of Israel. They say themselves, Our bones are
32 29|           prophesy unto them, (and say), Behold, even I will open
33 30|            resurrection, for (they say) the state of the Jews is
34 30|        from sepulchres, that is to say, from the most miserable
35 34|          but (as I will venture to say, in consideration of so
36 34|       believed on." Then, you will say, to them was this promise
37 35|         hurt the soul," that is to say, all bureau powers. Here,
38 37|           the old man," that is to say, sinful men in other words,
39 41|    distinction, when he goes on to say, "For in this we groan,
40 41|        Thessalonians: "For this we say unto you by the word of
41 42|          of the material and so to say the aliment of life, that
42 42|       should obtain life. But, you say, in the case of the dead,
43 42|     transformation. If you were to say that a fire is to be lighted,
44 42|            in the flesh he did not say that they whom he had just
45 43|       every one," as he goes on to say, "may receive the things

47 45|          to the old man that is to say, the flesh a permanent corruption.
48 45|        afflatus? I will venture to say, that even if the soul was
49 45|             It is more correct (to say), that we are either entirely

51 46|         But to what then, you will say, must the carnal mind be

66 53| Accordingly the apostle goes on to say: "Howbeit that was not first
67 53|           about man. What shall we say then? Has not the flesh
68 54|          lost. But death, you will say in reply to me, at this
69 55|          indeed, I ought hardly to say another man, but another
70 57|        cavil of unbelief. If, they say, it be actully the selfsame
71 57|         resurrection, what must we say of the death of a part of
72 58|           their causes, that is to say, the afflictions of flesh
