Chapter

 1 3|   ruler that the formation of man was possible to God without

 8 7|       likeness?" What kind of man? Manifestly He means fleshly

10 7|   dust of the earth, and made man." It is evident, therefore,
11 7|      evident, therefore, that man made in the image of God
12 8|       labour in vain? As if a man who has built a house should
13 8|     where He promises to save man, there He gives the promise
14 8|     to the flesh. For what is man but the reasonable animal
15 8|   soul? Is the soul by itself man? No; but the soul of man.
16 8|      man? No; but the soul of man. Would the body be called
17 8|      Would the body be called man? No, but it is called the
18 8|      it is called the body of man. If, then, neither of these
19 8| neither of these is by itself man, but that which is made
20 8|    the two together is called man, and God has called man
21 8|       man, and God has called man to life and resurrection,
22 8|      is not the act of a good man. For not even when a man
23 8|      man. For not even when a man does good to his children
24 8|      does one call him a good man; for even the most savage
25 8|       of their cubs. But if a man were to perform the same
26 8|    behalf of his slaves, that man would justly be called good.
