 94 10   |     Constantinople A. D. 842. This Synod decreed that a Feast of
 95 10   |            yet heard of the Nicene synod; moreover such action would
 96 10   |          as the Seventh Ecumenical Synod of the Catholic Church. ~
 97 11   |         Germany, etc., against the Synod which in Greek parts firmly
 98 11   |           composed a reply to this Synod," he further says that "
 99 11   |          of the Seventh Ecumenical Synod, of which they were writing;

115 11   |        phrase which belongs to the Synod (L j.). ~(b) They confound
116 12   |       Frankfort, which was a large Synod of the West, with legates
117 12   |        Nice to being an Ecumenical Synod. I do not know upon what
118 12   |      forward concerning the recent synod which the Greeks had held
119 12   |        these synods, nor any other synod, decreed that the "service" (
120 12   |           it, as we have seen, the Synod of Frankfort expresses its
121 12   |        i.e. at Frankfort] that the synod, which a few years before
122 12   |      decrees had been. For as this Synod at Nice was assembled under
123 12   |     rumours concerning the Seventh Synod had been scattered about,
124 12   |            condemned the Sacrosant Synod of Nice, which had been
125 12   |         have condemned the Seventh Synod, confirmed as it was by
126 12   |           by the authority of this synod, and so the error of the
127 12   |            received any provincial synod, so far as one part of its
128 12   |            same council the Nicene Synod would have been condemned. ~ ~
129 13   |           authority of the Seventh Synod. In 1596 there appeared
130 13   |        opposite of that which this synod would make out, for the
131 14   |       books, to the action of this Synod of Frankfort, and to the
132 14   |           against Photius. At this Synod the Second Council of Nice

136 14   |        under papal authority, that synod was styled the "Eighth,"
137 14   |          proceedings of the Eighth Synod and Mark answered: "We cannot
138 14   |            be forced to count that synod as ecumenical, since we
139 14   |       afterwards was held a second synod which restored Photius and
140 14   |       preceding assembly, and this synod also bears the title of
