 1 Intro| representations of the Lord and of the Saints as was accustomed to be
 2 2    |              God, Jesus Christ, as the Saints and the six Ecumenical Synods
 3 2    |           powers, and those of all the Saints. (1) ~And receiving their
 4 2    |                Martyrs, and of all the Saints -- the sacred images of
 5 2    |             salute the reliques of the Saints as of those who fought for
 6 2    |               painted the lives of the Saints and Prophets and Martyrs,
 7 2    |              you might find one of the Saints who was willing to be your
 8 2    |              says, "The charity of the Saints is not diminished by their
 9 2    |              Therefore I ask you, O ye Saints! I call out to you. I have
10 2    |           honourable images of all the Saints who pleased God in their
11 2    |            Holy Angels, and of all the Saints, most clearly giving our
12 2    |               the holy reliques of the Saints; and we receive the holy
13 3    |         heathen worship of images. The Saints live on eternally with God,
14 3    |              above all heavens and the Saints? It is not permitted to
15 3    |   demon-worshippers, and to insult the Saints, who shine in so great glory,
16 3    |             represent the forms of the Saints in lifeless pictures with
17 3    |            profit of the invocation of Saints, etc. ~(18) If anyone denies
18 4    |                Virgin and of the other saints; all this is evident to
19 5    |          images of our Lord and of his Saints by the same name as the
20 5    |              honourable Angels, of all Saints and of all pious people.
21 6    |         intercession and invocation of saints; the honour paid to relics;
22 6    |                teaching them, that the saints, who reign together with
23 6    |           impiously, who deny that the saints, who enjoy eternal happiness
24 6    |               not due to the relics of saints; or, that these, and other
25 6    |       dedicated to the memories of the Saints are vainly visited for the
26 6    |                of God and of the other Saints, are to be bad and retained
27 6    |            Christ, and venerate the ~ ~Saints, whose similitude they bear.
28 6    |               through the means of the Saints, and their salutary examples,
29 6    |            manners in imitation of the Saints; and may be excited to adore
30 6    |         Moreover, in the invocation of saints, the veneration of relics,
31 6    |         pervert the celebration of the saints, and the visitation of relics,
32 6    |        celebrated to the honest of the saints by luxury and wantonness.
33 6    |             Question III. ~God and the Saints addressed differently. ~
34 6    |                  From God and from the Saints we implore assistance not
35 6    |         deliver us from evils; but the Saints, because favourites with
36 6    |           mercy on us, hear us; to the saints, Pray for us. ~Question
37 6    |              Manner we may beseech the Saints to have mercy on us. ~We
38 6    |             may, however, also ask the saints themselves to have mercy
39 6    |            this is an office which the saints discharge, St. John the
40 6    |             therefore do we honour the Saints of God, as it is written (
41 6    |               For we do not honour the Saints as though adoring them,
42 6    |                and intercession of the Saints. ~(Ibid. Quaestio LIV.) ~
43 6    |            Virgin Mary, and of all the Saints. Moreover, the Pagans venerated
44 6    |            painting, but to those very Saints whom the images represent.
