IV SOME RECENT INITIATIVES

In the last few months districts have organised demonstrations to mark this lasallian international year of the Rights of the Child. Here are those which have reached us.

Ø         December 2000, two hundred lasallians from ten countries of Southeast Asia  gathered in Madurai to obtain and to exchange information on the situation of children in each of their countries. After deciding on action according to the countries, they arranged to meet again in 2003 to evaluate together.March 2001, two hundred Spanish lasallians met in Madrid to  exchange information about forty actions pursued on the theme promotion of justice (jmmartinez@planalfa.cs);

Ø         February 2001, six hundred Mexican lasallians held a congress of information and awareness on the Rights of the Child. Actions were decided (mvaldez@lasalle.edu.mx);

Ø         September 2001, the lasallians of Turkey inaugurated the new primary school of the franco-turkish community in Akarca (directeur@sj.k12.tr);

Ø         November 2001, the lasallians of the United States organised a congress on the Rights of the Child, in Chicago (johnstonfsc@yahoo.com);

Ø         The Centre of the Institute printed 5000 posters for the campaign of the Rights of the Child. 400 posters are in the districts (vlopez@lasalle.org)
