Dear Superior General,

The Bi-annual Assembly will take place at the Casa Divin Maestro, Ariccia, from 23 to 26 May 2001.

The theme is of special interest in view of the forthcoming Synod of Bishops in October 2001, because it concerns the role of the bishop:

"The Bishop as servant of Christ's Gospel in giving hope to the World"

We are defining the specific themes for each day and we will fax you the details as soon as possible.

In addition, as the President mentions in his letter, the meeting will elect the new Vice-President and those Superiors General whom the Assembly decides to send to the Synod as representatives of the USG.

We are sure that every Superior is aware of the important role of the bishop and we therefore expect a great many of you to attend the meeting.
