b.
Particular events that have left a positive impression on the history
and dynamics of the last six years:
o
Congress
of young religious (29/09-04/10/1997): a) prolonged examination and careful
study of contents and methods; b) initial preparations and those immediately
prior to the event; c) how it was conducted; d) what actually happened…; e)
follow-up.
o
The
"Vidimus Dominum" Internet site: the positive
experience of worldwide broadcasting of the Congress of Young Religious made us
deeply aware of the impelling need for the CL to have expert representation and
become known in the world of the mass media:
1.
So
that the CL can speak for itself
2.
So
that all the consecrated of the world can have a means of dialog and
information
3.
So
that teaching and the promotion of the CL can use this tool, which is so
important nowadays.
The USG
set off along this path in the face of difficulties, fears, doubts and with a
great deal of effort. From 1997 to 1999 the journey was financed by the USG. In
the General Assembly in November 1999 it was decided that it should no longer
be assisted by the USG, but that it should form part of a larger environment
open to the various associations of the Consecrated Life.
o
The
Jubilee of the Consecrated Life, which had its own special
"prophetic" character (2 February 2000)
o
Special
attention to the Synods, with the object of effective collaboration in
preparation, proceedings and outcome.
