D. A spirituality made of poverty and hope
In the missionary field human limitation and poverty are experienced in a way which demands living in Christian hope. It is among the poor that hope unfolds all its strength. Here the need for God’s help is clearly understood as well as the need for human beings to collaborate in the process of their own liberation.
Poverty, when it means renouncing the support of power, of ones own resources, of the human way of reasoning, nourishes active hope thriving in the weakness of human beings, in divine goodness and faithfulness and in the foolishness of the Cross, and in the strength and the wisdom of God (See I Cor 1:17-25.).
