C. A spirituality based on love with a social dimension

A fundamental aspect of the whole of Christian spirituality is a life-style of love, the synthesis of the Law and the Prophets (See Mt 22.37-40). This has been understood in missionary spirituality not only in its individual, welfare and development dimensions, but also in its social dimensions.

This new dimension of Christian love has brought about the understanding that under no circumstances can Christian liberation be reduced to purely temporal projects, neither can it be "confined to solely religious terrain, uninvolved with the temporal problems of peoples".The anthropological, theological and evangelical bonds existing between evangelization and promoting human development and liberation have made the Church understand "that her evangelizing mission has as an indispensable part working for justice and the promotion of mankind".
