The Crusade
that Never Was
We don not know if these captive
nations will one day really be free before the punitive and therapeutic
catastrophes predicted by Our Lady in the apparitions at Fatima supervene (see
Antonio A. Borelli, Our Lady at Fatima: Prophecies of Tragedy or Hope for
America and the World? Pleasantville, NY: American TFP, 1985, pp. 51-52).
What we don know is that, when these
nation are free, the Discontented will demand strict accounts for all this from
the "benefactors." To save their reputation, these
"benefactors" will be obliged to dig deep into many an archive and
blow the dust off many a document - or perhaps they will opt to keep them under
lock and key so silence may once again descend upon such questions.
In
truth, the flowery proclamations of UN's, UNESCOs and the like have made them
indifferent, just as victims being tortured would be indifferent to smiles,
polished with greetings and solidarity, from people watching their torments
with crossed arms.
"We
needed a crusade to free us," they will exclaim, "and you merely sent
us some bread to help us endure indefinitely our captivity. Perchance, were you
ignorant that the best solution for captivity is not merely bread, but
freedom?"
There
may be valid arguments to counter these complaints of the captives, but we
think they may be difficult to find.
