[Translation from the Greekoriginal]

Your Beatitude, PatriarchMesrobII of the Armenians in Turkey, much beloved and dearbrother in ChristGod: Grace and peace from God the Father and our LordJesusChrist be with You.

We should like to express to Your belovedBeatitude and through You to all the Armenians who are faithful to Christ our spiritualparticipation in the joy of the Christ-lovingArmenianpeople upon the 1700thanniversary, rightfully and festallycelebrated, of the massreception by the ArmenianNation of the faith in JesusChrist the Son and Logos of God. Sharing with all our soul in the celebration of this joyful and historicevent, we congratulate You wholeheartedly on this notable and historicanniversary and pray for You and the belovedArmenianpeople that the celebration of this anniversarymay become an opportunity for each person-member of Your historicpeople to drawcloser to Christ. For in this way the participation of each individual in Your celebration of this anniversary will become everyone’s personalsharing and experience of the faith in Christ as perfectGod-man and Savior, and thus a sincere and concretere-actualization of the celebratedevent, which, of course, is the final and essentialpurpose of every ecclesiasticalcelebration. It can otherwise be said that each believer’s union with Christconstitutes both the uniqueway of union of all the believers with one another and the restoration of fullunity among the Churches. For every other cooperation between Churches, however desirable and praiseworthy it may be, is a stage in the journey towards unity among them, and only the union of all with Christsubstantiallyrenders the unity of the Churches as a completeevent.

Addressing these things to You and to Your belovedflock on the occasion of Your Patriarchate’s celebration of this historicanniversary, we extend the heartfeltgreeting of our Church and our warmcongratulations to all Armenianfaithful throughout the earth, and we invoke upon all the grace and richmercy of our HolyTriuneGod. Amen.
