Questions for our life

Present in history

81.  From the beginning of our Institute, our Sisters, with their transparent, evangelical and charismatic identity, have been a dynamic presence in history, beginning from Mornese and reaching the whole world. The communities were open, involving educational environments, impregnated with evangelical values and of deep ecclesial meaning.

In the course of its 130 years, with the attention of those who love it, the Institute sought to witness and share a gift with the young: the joy of the encounter with the Lord Jesus.

Today, with that same passion, our eyes are opened to the horizons of the world, like the eyes of Jesus who, on the mountain, reached out to the crowds that were following him. It was a glance of compassion, of love, participation in every wound and in every hope, a new missionary call.

Attentive to a present-day phenomenon

82. Today, humanity appears to be strongly involved in the phenomenon of globalization which, while carrying powerful resources, also creates dramatic hardships. It is not solely the economic and technological processes that characterize globalization, but also life models and culture that influence the social, political and ethical relationships, the ecological dimension and religious and ecclesial experience. Globalization is the endorsing of the world in the demands, aspirations and the behavior of people. At the same time, it is creating divisions and injustices for entire peoples. Globalization is lived differently in the various contexts, but the urgency of becoming aware of its dynamics and of its consequences in order to be able to control it is common to both affluent countries and marginalized countries, their rich resources.

Our communities are immersed in this complex reality and commit themselves to interpreting it, seeking to understand its implications for their own life, for the life of the young and, in particular, for women.

The reflections on the Chapter theme, present in the syntheses of the Province Chapters, allow us to note some questions - almost a cry to go beyond -with attention to the course of history.
