§ 4. For when in the strong flower of youth, when human things are not valued as things to be thrown away, he would dedicate himself to the divine service, having entered the religion of Blessed Francis, to which he strove through arduous deeds, he advanced so much in diligent reading and assiduous prayer, that one could deservedly say with Wisdom: "I have desired, and understanding is given to me."
