CHRISTOCENTRISM 0F CATECHESIS

40 Christ Jesus, the incarnate Word of God, since he is the supreme reason why God intervenes in the world and manifests himself 10 men, is the center of the Gospel message within salvation history.

He is "the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of ail creation. in him everything. . . was created" (Col. 1, 15). For he stands out as the one mighty mediator through whom God draws near to man and man is led 10 God (cf. 1 Tim. 2, 5). In him the Church has its foundation. In him all things are brought together (cf. Eph. 1, 10). For this reason, created things and the conscience of men and the genuine values which are found in other religions and the diverse signs of the limes are ail to be thought of, though not univocally, as paths and steps by which it is possible 10 draw near to God, under the influence of grace and with an ordering 10 the Church of Christ (cf. LG, 16).

Hence catechesis must necessarily be Christocentric.
