Causes that may be remedied

9. Climatic factors and disasters of all kinds, however important, are far from being the sole causes of hunger and malnutrition. In order to deal effectively with the problem of hunger, all its causes, whether contingent or permanent, and the linkages between them, should be considered. We will now examine the main causes, grouping them into the usual categories: economic, socio-cultural and political.
