The twofold mission of international organisations

52. The international organisations have a twofold mission: awareness-building and action. While the second of these is obvious, the first is often unknown. Yet the two are inseparable. Prime importance must be given to sensitising people to the reality and causes of mis-development wherever they are. Attracting private resources and making more people aware of the issues are crucial. It is necessary to build up this grassroots base in order to increase Official Development Assistance and change the "structures of sin".
