 The Christological emphasis of the various theological centers differed, but the difference was only a particular emphasis. Nestorius was educated at one center, but his theological directions were corrupted by his acceptance of certain concepts put forth by false teachers. He then fell into heresy by failing to follow the principle basic in the Holy Church, viz., he did not verify his teaching with the entire Orthodox Church, but rather proceeded on self-will.
