40. Does theosis take place for the soul in this life as part of one's salvation so that the soul of the believer is already deified before it leaves the body? Or does theosis take place only after the Last Judgment? Theosis must take place for the soul in this life. As mentioned above, few attain a full mystical union with God in this life, and people will only be fully deified on the Last Day. Nevertheless, deification must begin here and now as part of a person's salvation.
