What is the position of Christ in the Orthodox Church?

“Christ is the Head of the Church” (Eph 4:15, 5:23; Col 1:18). In giving authority to His Apostles before His Ascension, the Savior told them that He Himself would not cease to be the invisible Shepherd and Pilot of the Church. “I am with you always, even to the end of the world” (Mt 28:20). Christ also stated that He, as the Good Shepherd, had to bring in also those sheep who were not of His fold so that there would be one flock and one Shepherd (Jn 10:16). The Apostle Paul likewise instructed that God the Father “gave Him to be the Head over all things to the Church, which is His Body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all” (Eph 1:22-23).
