10   8”,23|          to those who want to have oaths taken, says (Hom. 8 on statues): “
11   8”,23|          not only wicked and false oaths, but also the good and true
12   8”,23|         but also the good and true oaths. But, you tell me, such
13   8”,23|       Himself commanded us to take oaths, or that Christ Himself
14   8”,23|            chastise those who take oaths, show me where He says this,
15   8”,23|           in forbidding us to take oaths, and is so careful to provide
16   8”,23|      provide against the taking of oaths entirely as to class the
17   8”,23| transgressor of the law concerning oaths were ten thousand times
18   8”,23|        anyone that swears the vain oaths to which the majority of
19   8”,23|     perjure themselves, or to take oaths. These things being as stated,
20   8”,23|            thing for good and true oaths to be taken, for one thing
21   8”,23|           the imperial laws permit oaths to be taken, and for another
22   8”,23|       consequently that concerning oaths, must be kept by all human
23   8”,23|          Testament true and lawful oaths were permitted (Deut. 6:
24   8”,23|          figures of a semblance to oaths, but not a veritable oath,
25   8”,23|            vehemently he prohibits oaths). But do please note also
