88. The Temple of Diana too at Ephesus, came to (its) destruction three several times. On one occasion, the Amazons163 burnt it; on another, Herododus164 (Herostratus), one of the inhabitants of Ephesus; and lastly, on another, (it was ruined) by God who is over all. So that now, after the manifestation of our Saviour, nothing more is visible even there, except the great (and) signal mark of the victory of (its) overthrow.
