Season

1 Spring|    snow had dwindled down to naught. ~Each day a soft south
2 Spring|      and barren fields, with naught on which to live; ~And yet
3 Spring|    to yield great wealth for naught. ~Tare, thistle, nettle,
4 Summer|     charm, and turn again to naught. ~Alas! This human life
5 Summer|   twisted straw, and fit for naught but dross. ~But then these
6 Autumn|   meals, ~Many a day we have naught but dry crusts of bread; ~
7 Winter|     helpful fire. ~We'd have naught but sodden, sour swill to
8 Winter|      but silly boys and know naught of this world,~Yet you,
9 Winter| undertake or do will come to naught,~Unless Thy hand divine
