 8 III    |         the son of Melchi.11 As Joseph, therefore, is the object
 9 III    |       to be the grandfathers of Joseph. Well, then, Matthan and
10 III    |         begat by her the third, Joseph - his son by nature and
11 III    |       written, "And Jacob begat Joseph." But according to law he
12 III    |    gives thus: "And Jacob begat Joseph." But Luke, on the other
13 III    |         this, too, he adds), of Joseph, the son of Heli, the son
14 III(14)|       only to the words "son of Joseph," but also to those that
15 III(14)|      Christ would be the son of Joseph by legal adoption, just
16 III(14)|         just in the same way as Joseph was the son of Heli, which
17 III(14)|        of Mary and a brother of Joseph married by her after the
18 VI     |        up seed to him and begat Joseph, his own son by nature,
19 VI     |        son of Hell by law. Thus Joseph was the son of both.24 ~
