Chapter
1 INT | edifying story that hath come to me, the which devout
2 I | incorruptibility of the life to come, and sowed in men the first
3 IV | immortal kingdom in the life to come; for the present is of a
4 IV | the hope of the life to come which the Christians preach
5 IV | only long for the world to come. Therefore, forasmuch the
6 V | suffer nothing unpleasant to come in his way, but to show
7 V | answered, "Unless death come before hand to remove him,
8 V | whenever he chanced to come to him, he made as though
9 V | unwilling that his cares should come to his father's knowledge.
10 V | men should be saved, and come to the knowledge of the
11 VI | that I am a merchant man, come from a far country; and
12 VI | forthwith. ~So when Barlaam was come in, and had in due order
13 VI | When I heard that thou were come from a far country, my spirit
14 VI | death. So when evening was come, the king sent the death-trumpet
15 VII | and shadow of things to come' leading men away from idols
16 VII | the Father. And he shall come again to judge the quick
17 VIII | defilements of evil that come after. For thus the Saviour
18 VIII | likeness. And for the time to come we cast away all the old
19 VIII | for the Son of God shall come again on earth, with unspeakable
20 VIII | seasons, Christ our God shall come to judge the world in awful
21 VIII | the Son of God, and shall come forth; they that have done
22 VIII | worthy to escape the wrath to come, and to be ranged on the
23 IX | thereof? And how have ye come to learn that which ye have
24 IX | hear his voice, and shall come forth, they that have done
25 IX | When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the
26 IX | them on his right hand, `Come ye blessed of my Father,
27 IX | proclamation called all to come to the marriage to take
28 IX | will repay them. `Behold, I come to gather all nations and
29 IX | tongues; and they shall come and see my glory. And the
30 IX | me. And all flesh shall come to worship before me, saith
31 IX | crieth thus, `God shall come visibly, even our God, and
32 IX | judgement and the recompense to come. Their words also have been
33 IX | unending life of the world to come." ~
34 X | fain have taken her again. `Come hither,' said he, `into
35 X | calleth thee to him, saying, `Come out from among them, and
36 XI | after much labour, he had come to the utmost misery, and
37 XII | hath no end. Having then come to this wise resolve, they
38 XII | vigil, that there they might come to the pleasures and joys
39 XIII | friendship for the time to come. But, see, I present thee
40 XIII | appointed day of death is come, of all these things he
41 XIV | humble servant, am he, who am come hither for to shew thee
42 XIV | treasure there; and I am come to lead thee away from the
43 XIV | wasted in these things that come and go; when I saw that
44 XIV | darkness of the days to come. And, as I am myself of
45 XIV | calling loudly to me thus, `Come ye out,' said he, `all ye
46 XIV | behold it shall not be. Come ye out, without turning
47 XIV | that which is perfect is come, and I shall see face to
48 XV | treasure in heaven, and come, take up thy cross and follow
49 XV | money, and the evils that come from the love of pleasure,
50 XV | sweet, while others that come from deep wells are brackish
51 XVI | the king said unto him, "Come now, let us go forth and
52 XVI | king lived, for the time to come, a godly life, and, having
53 XVI | felicity of the world to come. If then at a convenient
54 XVII | marvellous fashioning of me have come to the knowledge of his
55 XVII | that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part
56 XVIII | prophet saith, `When shall I come and appear before the presence
57 XVIII | thy father's threat, and come boldly unto thee, and have
58 XVIII | the elder, "Since thou art come to deliver me from the slavery
59 XVIII | captivity for the time to come. But of the residue of the
60 XVIII | opportunity, then shalt thou come to us, and for the remainder
61 XVIII | also that in the world to come we shall not be parted asunder." ~
62 XVIII | thyself, for the time to come, treasure that cannot be
63 XIX | and believe that he shall come again, with glory, to judge
64 XIX | work of us and the devil, come upon us through our heedlessness,
65 XIX | Spirit. Then did Barlaam come back to his chamber, and
66 XIX | For from imaginations we come also to actual deeds, and
67 XIX | issue from the mire and come to herself again, she is
68 XX | the prelude of gladness to come.' For since they lay down
69 XX | exceedingly. Let my complaint come before thee, O Lord: give
70 XX | receive in the world to come, and the shame of sinners
71 XX | stumbling block of the evil one come nigh thee, but that thou
72 XX | obtain the kingdom that is to come, without end or successor,
73 XXI | spiritual sheep that hath come to be a sacrifice unto thee
74 XXII | all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the
75 XXII | sickness. When this had come to the knowledge of the
76 XXII | saying "To-morrow I shall come to see thee, and judge of
77 XXII | Majesty to be troubled to come to me thy servant." Then
78 XXII | in star-lore. When he was come, with much despondency and
79 XXII | to see you, he would have come forth to meet you. As for
80 XXIII | latter end so shortly to come, and set thine house in
81 XXIII | round about us all; and come at length to thyself. For
82 XXIV | feared concerning thee is come upon me, and that which
83 XXIV | which I was afraid of hath come unto me.' Thou art become
84 XXIV | thee fables of worlds to come, and drivel about the resurrection
85 XXIV | longwinded follies, and come sacrifice to the gracious
86 XXIV | fruition of the happiness to come! Wilt thou not understand
87 XXIV | born," he cried, "nor hadst come to the light of day, destined
88 XXV | listen to my entreaty, and come, do sacrifice to the gods;
89 XXV | many as have done so, have come to a miserable end. But
90 XXV | strife and a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance
91 XXV | Lord Jesus Christ shall come, the Son of God, in unspeakable
92 XXV | deed and thought shall come before their faces. Then,
93 XXVI | surprise, but all might come together without fear, as
94 XXVI | When all the company was come, thus spake the king to
95 XXVI | innumerable multitudes, come to view the contest and
96 XXVII | speak concerning himself, come we now to the human race,
97 XXVII | to their honour, gods? ~"Come we then, O king, to the
98 XXVII | making gods of these. ~"Now come we to the Greeks that we
99 XXVII | Maker of all mankind. ~"Come we now, O king, to the Jews,
100 XXVII | pleased the Son of God to come on earth, they did shamefully
101 XXVII | the life of the world to come. They neither commit adultery
102 XXVII | by Christ in the life to come. ~"And that thou mayest
103 XXVII | be saved for the world to come. Great and marvellous are
104 XXVIII | wot of the judgement to come, having heard thereof from
105 XXIX | they said, "Except thou come thyself to our succour,
106 XXIX | victory. Wherefore I am come, that we may celebrate together
107 XXIX | far less join argument, or come to propositions and oppositions
108 XXIX | all men for all time to come." ~Hereupon Theudas, bowing
109 XXX | toil and sweat, thou shalt come hither, if thou constrain
110 XXXI | unto Theudas all that was come to pass. ~But the king,
111 XXXII | repenteth': and again, `I am not come to call the righteous but
112 XXXII | evil: learn to do well. Come now, and let us reason together:
113 XXXIII | persuasion of my words, come now; I will divide with
114 XXXIII | blessedness of the world to come, and considered himself
115 XXXIII | the hope of enjoyment to come, and there delighteth it
116 XXXIII | more, when the time should come for the recompense of his
117 XXXIII | father's subjects begin to come to him, and, laying aside
118 XXXIV | than the sun; and I have come to my senses, and know that
119 XXXIV | his father, "Thy son is come," he went forth straightway
120 XXXIV | we believe that he shall come again, to raise up his own
121 XXXVII | rigours, the long years to come, this present distress from
122 XXXVIII| prospered him, until they were come together again. ~The old
123 XXXIX | mind never wavering, and come to the measure of the perfection
124 XXXIX | thyself abide for the time to come in this place, holding fast
125 XXXIX | will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode
126 XXXIX | already at hand, who shall come to see the vineyard which
127 XL | that his time was not yet come to win those habitations,
128 XL | little while thou shalt come hither, and gain the same
129 XL | to the things that are to come, as though they were already
130 XL | though they were already come. Christ was his recompense
131 XL | heard tell of that which had come to pass, there assembled
