Canon 123

1. In the patriarchal curia there is to be appointed by the

patriarch a priest or deacon above all reproach, who as patriarchal chancellor presides over the patriarchal chancery and the

archives of the patriarchal curia, assisted, if the case warrants

it, by an assistant chancellor appointed by the patriarch. 2.

Apart from the chancellor and the assistant chancellor, who are

notaries ex officio, the patriarch can appoint other notaries for

the entire Church over which he presides, for all of whom cann.

253-254 are to be applied; he can also freely remove these notaries from office. 3. Concerning the archives of the patriarchal curia, cann. 256-260 are to be observed.
