Canon 232

1. When the eparchial see is vacant the eparchial finance officer carries out his office under the authority of the administrator of the eparchy. The administration of the ecclesiastical goods which on account of the vacancy of the eparchial see

do not have an administrator reverts to him, unless the patriarch

or college of eparchial consultors have provided otherwise. 2.

For the resignation or removal of the eparchial finance officer

when the see is vacant, the norms of can. 231, 1 and 2 are to

be observed. 3. Inside the territorial boundaries of the patriarchal Church, if the eparchial finance officer lost the right

to his office in any manner, the election or appointment of a new

finance officer is the competency of the patriarch after having

consulted the bishops of the patriarchal curia, if there are any,

otherwise, having consulted the permanent synod. In other cases

the finance officer is elected by the college of eparchial consultors. 4. The eparchial finance officer must give an account

of his administration to the new eparchial bishop, and, after he

has given it, he ceases to hold office unless he is confirmed in

his office by the same bishop.
