Canon 443

1. The superior of a monastery sui iuris is to be elected by

the synaxis convened according to the norms of the typicon and

having observed cann. 947-960, without prejudice to the right of

the bishop of the eparchy to preside at the synaxis of election

in person or through another. 2. At the synaxis of election of

the superior of a confederate monastery sui iuris, the president

of the confederation presides over the election in person or

through another.
