Canon 452

1. Clerics enrolled in an eparchy cannot be licitly admitted to

the novitiate without consulting their own eparchial bishop nor

can they be admitted licitly, if the eparchial bishop objects to

it because their departure will result in grave harm to souls

which cannot be prevented otherwise; or if it concerns those who

are destined to the priesthood in a monastery but are restrained

by some impediment established in law. 2. Likewise, parents

whose help is necessary in raising and educating children cannot

be licitly admitted to the monastery, as well as children who are

obligated to assist a father or mother, a grandfather or grand-mother who are in great need, unless the monastery has provided

otherwise for this.
