Canon 499

A member can be dismissed during temporary profession by the superior of the monastery sui iuris with the consent of the council

according to can. 552, 2 and 3, but, for validity, the dismissal must be confirmed by the eparchial bishop, or by the patriarch if particular law decrees it for monasteries situated within

the territorial boundaries of a patriarchal Church.
