Canon 511

1. The superiors and synaxes in orders and congregations have

that power which is determined in common law and the statutes.

2. In clerical orders and congregations of pontifical or patriarchal right, moreover, superiors and synaxes possess power of

governance for both the external as well as the internal forum,

in conformity with the statutes.
