Canon 514

1. Superiors are to be constituted for a certain and appropriate term of office, unless the statutes decree differently for

the superior general. 2. However, before the determined time

has elapsed they can be removed from office, or be transferred to

another office for reasons, and according to the procedure, determined by the statutes. 3. It shall be provided in suitable

norms of the statutes that members shall not stay for too long

time in the office of superior without interruption.
