Associations of the Christian Faithful

Canon 573

1. Associations which are erected by competent ecclesiastical

authority, or approved by the decree of the same authority, are

juridic persons in the Church and are called public associations.

2. Other associations, even if praised or recommended by ecclesiastical authority, are called private associations; these associations are not recognized in the Church, unless their statutes

are reviewed by competent authority but otherwise they are regulated only by particular law with due regard for can. 577.
