Canon 577

1. Every association is subject to the vigilance of the ecclesiastical authority which erected or approved it; this authority

is to see that the integrity of faith and morals is preserved in

them, and to watch lest abuse creep into ecclesiastical discipline. 2. It is the duty of the eparchial bishop to be vigilant of all associations exercising activity in his territory,

and as the case may be, to notify the authority which has erected

or approved them, and further, if the action of the association

causes serious harm to ecclesiastical doctrine or discipline, or

is a scandal to the Christian faithful, to apply appropriate

remedies in the meantime.
