Canon 601

Each Church has the task, which is to be accomplished in the

first place by the patriarchs and the bishops in a manner adapted

to each age and culture, of answering the perennial questions

concerning the meaning of life and having examined the signs of

the times in the light of the gospel, recommending Christian

solutions to the more pressing problems, so that the light of

Christ might shine everywhere more brightly illuminating all

people.
