Canon 616

1. The preachers of the word of God should set aside words of

human wisdom and abstruse themes and preach to the Christian

faithful the entire mystery of Christ, who is the way, the truth

and the life; let them show that earthly things and human institutions are also ordered, according to the plan of God the Creator, to the salvation of humanity, and that they can therefore

make no small contribution to the building up of the Body of

Christ. 2. Let them teach also the doctrine of the Church

about the dignity of the human person and fundamental human

rights, about family life, social and civil life, the sense of

justice to be pursued in the world of work and of economics, a

sense which can make for the building of peace on earth and bring

about the progress of peoples.
